One Team, Wider Reach: Electro Care Enters a New Phase in Denmark
Electro Care has had a busy start to the year. In January, Elmodan and Electro Care merged into one company. Shortly after, the Copenhagen teams moved into new premises in Albertslund. And alongside it all, a new focus area has started to take shape: bypass pumping.
For Managing Director Bo Rocatis, the merger was a natural next step.
“We already worked so much across the two companies,” he says. “There was travel back and forth, internal invoicing and double costs. It made more sense to become one company.”
Today, Electro Care has 60 employees, 33 service vehicles and workshops in four locations across Denmark. Together with mobile workshops, that gives the company national coverage.
“We now cover all of Denmark,” Bo says. “Neither Electro Care nor Elmodan could do that alone before.”
Bringing the Competence Together
The new premises in Albertslund, just outside Copenhagen, play an important role in the next phase. Electro Care now has 1,700 square metres where the company can gather more of its competence under one roof.
The Copenhagen operation has been divided into three main sections: Classic Electro, Pumps, and Contractor Services. The contractor section includes bypass pumping, generators and services aimed at construction sites and project-based work.
“We moved to gather the competence in one place,” Bo says. “We have reorganised so people can focus on what they do best.”
The setup is also meant to make everyday work more efficient. The pump section and electro section have separate areas, with purchasing placed centrally between them.
We have to let go of the past and focus on the future. That is where the opportunities are.
The Brochure on the Table
One of the newest developments is Electro Care’s investment in bypass pumping together with Xylem. The timing, according to Bo, was almost too good.
He had already been in several meetings with Xylem, who wanted Electro Care to take a stronger role in bypass pumping in Denmark. At the same time, Bo was in dialogue with a mechanical engineer with experience from that exact field.
“I was a bit back and forth,” Bo says. “Should we do it, should we not? We did not really have the competence in-house yet.”
Then, one day, Xylem had just left a meeting at Electro Care. Fifteen minutes later, the mechanical engineer walked through the door.
“He saw the Xylem brochure lying on the table and asked, ‘Did you put that there as a teaser for me?’” Bo laughs.
The answer was no. But the timing was hard to ignore. The mechanical engineer started on May 1st, and Electro Care’s bypass pumping initiative is now underway.
“It is very new, but it will grow,” Bo says. “There are only a couple of other companies in Denmark working with this, so I’m sure they are not thrilled about the competition. We take that with a smile.”
Four Cultures, One Shirt
The merger has also brought together several different cultures: former Xylem colleagues, the long-standing pump team, Elmodan and Electro Care. Many knew each other already. Some had worked together before. Others had been competitors.
That makes integration both easier and more interesting.
“We all have different ways of working,” Bo says. “But we know each other, and we are finding the right way forward together.”
Before the merger, Bo gathered everyone at Atlas Biografen in Copenhagen. For the occasion, he had custom football shirts made for the whole team, in River Group colours.
“It was to show that we are on the same team,” he says. “That was the symbolism. Maybe we should make shirts for the whole River Group next. That would be fun.”
For Electro Care, that mindset matters. The merger is not only about structure, square metres and service vehicles. It is also about getting people to look in the same direction.
“We have to let go of the past and focus on the future,” he says. “That is where the opportunities are.”
Leaders on Site in Albertslund
The new setup in Albertslund has also been introduced to colleagues across River Group. At the end of May, around 25 leaders from the group gathered in Denmark. Bo spoke about the merger, the new way of working and how the integration was progressing.
The following morning, the group visited the workshop together.
“We went by bus to see the workshop,” Bo says. “It was good to show people what we are building here.”
The collaboration also reaches beyond Denmark. Electro Care works closely with Electro Performance in Aarhus on purchasing, supplier agreements and customer collaboration, and has regular dialogue with Ahlström & Persson in Malmö. With short distances across Denmark and the Øresund region, cooperation is both natural and practical.
What the leaders saw was a company that had moved fast: one merger, one new location, three focused sections, and a growing role in keeping water moving across Denmark.
