When Idris Akman joined Miva in February 2022, the company stood at a crossroads. With his background in construction and extensive experience in managing large-scale projects, Akman saw the potential for transformation. Just over two years later, Miva has undergone a comprehensive overhaul, positioning itself as a key player in Sweden’s water solutions industry.

Unified Under One Roof

A major milestone in Miva’s journey was consolidating its operations. Previously scattered across two locations, the team came together in a custom-built facility outside Stockholm. “We knew it was vital to centralize,” Akman explains. “Not only to foster a stronger sense of unity but also to become a more attractive employer.”

Their new headquarters, which opened in May, is a 1,500-square-meter state-of-the-art facility, including an 800-square-meter workshop with 9-meter ceilings. “The workshop is our crown jewel,” Akman says proudly. “It’s a space where we can build, test, and innovate without constraints. It allows us to deliver uncompromising solutions for all things water-related.”

The relocation was one of many changes. Alongside updating its visual identity and systems, Miva is now preparing to align its branding fully with River Group. This transition will include adopting the River Group logo within the next few years. “It’s part of an ongoing process of redefining who we are and how we fit within the group,” Akman notes. “These changes reflect not only our growth but also our commitment to being a strong part of a larger ecosystem.”

Building a Culture of Curiosity

For Akman, fostering a culture of continuous improvement has been paramount. “We want to avoid the trap of ‘we’ve always done it this way.’ Instead, we focus on being curious, adaptable, and always striving for better,” he explains.

This mindset has created an environment where innovation thrives. “Our workshop functions as a laboratory, where we experiment and develop new solutions for water treatment,” Akman shares. “This commitment to progress makes Miva an attractive workplace for ambitious specialists.”

A Major Win

These efforts culminated in late October when Miva secured a landmark contract with Uppsala Vatten. Valued at 50 million SEK annually over eight years, the project represents a significant achievement for the company. “It was a hard-fought battle,” Akman admits. “But winning this contract proved we’re on the right path.”

Collaboration also plays a key role. Miva’s partnership with Pumpsnabben, a specialist in sales and service, enhances their ability to deliver comprehensive solutions. However, Miva’s partnerships extend beyond its collaboration with Pumpsnabben – as part of the River Group, Miva benefits from unique opportunities to collaborate across the group’s companies. “Miva holds the greatest potential for synergies within our group,” Akman highlights. “By leveraging expertise and resources across the River Group, we can deliver even more comprehensive solutions for our clients.”

With a team of 30 employees and growing, Miva is poised for further success. Their focus remains on securing large-scale projects and pushing the boundaries of technical innovation. Akman emphasizes, “We aim to earn our reputation through smart, high-quality work. Our clients see the value in this approach, which sets us apart.”
