River Group Expands with New Workshop Acquisitions in Norway and Sweden
River Group is taking a significant step forward by acquiring seven fully equipped workshops from Xylem in Norway and Sweden — five in Norway (Tromsø, Bodø, Trondheim, Ålesund, Kristiansand) and two in Sweden (Emmaboda, Örebro). This expansion strengthens our presence in key locations, enhances our ability to serve customers locally, and brings 45 highly skilled employees to our team. The 7 former Xylem workshops form a new company within River Group – River Pump Service AS / AB.
Strengthening Local Service and Expertise
With service workshops stretching from Tromsø in the north to Kristiansand in the south of Norway and in Sweden Emmaboda and Örebro, we are ensuring better service coverage across both countries where we previously lacked local presence. These facilities are already operational and staffed by experienced professionals who understand their local markets and customer needs.
“This is an incredible opportunity for us. We are gaining 45 highly trained technicians who not only excel in their field but also know our customers and the industry inside out. Their expertise is invaluable, and we are excited to welcome them to River Group,” says Carl Johan Callenholm, Director of M&A and Strategy at River Group.
The newly acquired service workshops specialize in water and wastewater solutions and have extensive experience handling large-scale projects. This strengthens our ability to deliver tailored, high-quality services to both municipalities and industrial clients.
This acquisition is the result of a trust-based relationship with Xylem. “Many of us at River Group have worked at Xylem in the past, so this deal comes with a deep mutual understanding. For the employees, this transition is not about disruption—it’s about continuity and new opportunities,” Carl Johan explains.

A People-First Approach
This is more than just a purchase — it’s about people. The 45 new employees are the real strength behind this expansion. They bring knowledge, experience, and local expertise that are difficult to find, particularly in smaller markets.
“We are committed to keeping what works and make the transition as smooth as possible for the employees. Our goal is to build on what they already do well and offer additional support, resources, and career opportunities,” Carl Johan emphasizes.
Remaining an Independent Service Provider
The acquisition deepens the strategic partnership and close cooperation with Xylem, but River Group remains a supplier independent service provider dedicated to offering the best solutions for our customers without exclusivity to any single supplier.
“This deal is about strengthening our capabilities, not changing our strategy. We will continue to work with a wide range of suppliers to ensure we deliver the best possible solutions tailored to each customer’s needs,” Carl Johan states.
The integration of the seven service workshops has already begun, with River Group leadership personally visiting each location. The response from employees has been very positive, with many familiar faces welcoming the transition. “It’s been great reconnecting with old colleagues and seeing how well this change is being received,” says Carl Johan Callenholm.
With a strong local presence, a growing team of dedicated professionals, and an unwavering commitment to quality service, River Pump Service and River Group is well-positioned for the future.
