Sweet Support: How Elmodan Keeps Tom’s Chocolate Factory Running
A behind-the-scenes look at one of Denmark’s most iconic brands. And the service team that keeps it moving.
Behind every Easter egg, marzipan bar, and a bag of licorice Penguins from Tom’s lies more than just sugar and tradition. There’s also a lot of engineering and a dedicated team from Elmodan, ensuring production never stops.
“Toms isn’t just chocolate,” says Bo Rocratis, CEO of Elmodan. “It’s a full-scale, high-pressure operation with strict deadlines and huge seasonal peaks. We like to say we perform small miracles to keep their machines running.”
Keeping Production Sweet (and on time)
Elmodan has worked with Toms for over 15 years, handling service and emergency repairs on everything from rotating chocolate tanks to heavy-duty lifting equipment. With factories in Copenhagen producing everything from “Plum in Madeira” to the iconic “Pingvin mix”, the stakes are high, especially around Easter and Christmas.
“If a product isn’t ready in time, they risk daily fines or even losing key distribution windows,” Bo explains. “So when something breaks, it’s not just inconvenient. It’s critical.”
We’re not just a pump company. We support entire industrial ecosystems, from lighting to lifting gear to emergency repairs. But what matters most is the trust our customers place in us.

Elmodan often steps in like an ambulance and emergency service. “They can call us any time, and we’ll come running. We’ve even had to machine a new drive shaft overnight to save a full batch of chocolate – from failure to full operation – in under 12 hours.”
Not Just Chocolate
Toms owns Anthon Berg, which is famous across the Nordics, particularly at Easter. But their production includes much more – liquorice, wine gums, and a wide range of candy that makes their factories feel a bit like Santa’s workshop.
“There’s just one hazard when visiting,” Bo jokes. “There are bowls of fresh candy everywhere. One of our technicians once ate nine marzipan bars in a single lunch break – he didn’t need a second course.”
More Than a Slogan
At Elmodan, the unofficial motto is “Keeping your production running.” It’s a simple phrase with a lot behind it. Just like “Making water flow.”
“We’re not just a pump company,” Bo says. “We support entire industrial ecosystems, from lighting to lifting gear to emergency repairs. But what matters most is the trust our customers place in us.”
Toms, for its part, has been a model partner – forward-thinking, quality-focused, and always ready to collaborate.
